Hélène Grimaud receives Grammy nomination

Grammy nomination

Hélène Grimaud has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance category for DUO, her album with cellist Sol Gabetta released in October 2012.

As reviewed by Musical Toronto (Canada), the album is “not just a showcase for two great artists whose parts add up to something greater, but it also works as a beautiful, easy lesson in the evolution of emotional language in music from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century.” Mercury News (US) wrote: “Put on your headphones, close the door and soak in these direct-connection performances of Schumann, Brahms, Debussy and Shostakovich by pianist Grimaud and cellist Gabetta. This is terrific.” “Gabetta-Grimaud: un duo avec deux G comme ‘génial’.” adds Le Monde (France).

Hélène’s recordings have received numerous accolades, including the Cannes Classical Recording of the Year, Choc du Monde de la musique, Diapason d’or, Grand Prix du disque, Record Academy Prize (Tokyo), Midem Classic Award and the Echo Award.

DUO won the prestigious Echo Klassik prize in 2013.

The award ceremony will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 26 January and will be broadcast on CBS.
