Hélène Grimaud joins The National Orchestra of Lyon and conductor Leonard Slatkin for five performances of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 starting tomorrow. The tour begins in Barcelona, Spain (24 & 25 January) and continues to Aix-en-Provence, France (28 January) and Lyon (30 & 31 January), where she delighted audiences with her water-inspired recital earlier this month.

On February 5th, Hélène will reunite with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Rotterdam Philharmonic for a US tour, during which they’ll visit Costa Mesa, Palm Desert, San Diego, San Francisco, Ann Arbor and Chicago. The tour repertoire includes both Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G. In a recent interview, Hélène Grimaud described her first meeting with Yannick Nézet-Seguin, just over a year ago, as “a revelation. You know, there are some key encounters in life; those for which there is a before and an after. With Yannick, that’s what it was; it was really, really strong. Yannick is the perfect synthesis between the intellect, the heart and the guts. And that’s extremely rare”.
