This week Hélène Grimaud reunites with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor, Vladimir Jurowski, for a 4 city tour which includes concerts in Lyon, Genève, Zurich, and New York City for performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
Hélène Grimaud and Vladimir Jurowski have always enjoyed a particularly strong collaboration on stage, and together recorded Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in 2007 for Deutsche Grammophon which was recently chosen by iTunes for its new Classical Essentials – a selection of the most important recordings of iconic repertoire.
Previewing the upcoming concert in Lyon, Le Progrès wrote “Talented! Magnificent! Rebellious! If anyone deserves these descriptions, it has to be Hélène Grimaud, whose unique personality immediately stood her out from the crowd at the beginning of her career at the end of the 1980s and immediately earnt her the attention of her musical peers … However bright her aura, it is still a perfect match for the LPO (London Philharmonic Orchestra) and its Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski, a young Russian who, at barely 40, has already earned his place amongst music legends.”
