On tour with Beethoven

Hélène Grimaud starts a new 7-date Europe tour with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Roma conducted by Antonio Pappano in Rome, Italy on April 9th. They will jointly interpret a great classic: the 4th Piano Concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven, remarkable – and revolutionary – for its unique opening, in which the piano begins alone.

The roots of the Orchestra go back to the late 19th century, but the Accademia itself is many centuries older, it was founded in 1585. Sir Antonio Pappano took over the artistic direction in 2005.

The tour continues in Paris (11 April), Berlin (12 April), Hannover (14 April), Hamburg (15 April), Frankfurt (17 April) and wraps up in Munich (18 April).
