“Inspired soloists team up for outstanding finale”
“Festival del Sole brought down the curtain on its 2012 season Sunday with a double-barreled booking of celebrated soloists appearing with the Russian National Orchestra, plus the local premiere of a symphonic rhapsody by one of the valley’s regular visiting composers.
“France’s Hélène Grimaud, a magnetic pianist known for keen interpretations and brilliant technique, brought the fire of Maurice Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major” to a receptive Lincoln Theater crowd before intermission, leaving the excitement of Samuel Barber’s “Violin Concerto” in the capable hands of American superstar Joshua Bell for the finale.”
